Draw Arc Fixture

General

The Draw Arc Fixture is where the Stud Welding occurs on the 2V04 Underbody Main Line Cell. Robots 2V04=V01AR14 places the part into the Draw Arc Fixture and then Robots 2V04=V01AR51 through 2V04=V01AR54 stud weld the part located in the fixture.

After the welds are completed, the material handler Robot 2V04=V01AR15 grabs the part and transfer it to the next station.

Draw Arc Fixture

Major Components

The Draw Arc Fixture features the following components.

Item Description Function
A Tailstock Support structure for the trunnion assembly and is responsible for alignment, centering, and clamping of the part.
B Tunkers Clamp Secures the part during the stud welding operations.
C Earth Suppressor Reduces or eliminates electrical interference during the stud welding process.
D Locating Pin The locating pins on the Draw Arc Fixture allow for the accurate and controlled placement of the parts. When the material handling robot loads the part onto the fixture, the part must have each locating pin inserted into the locating holes.
E Headstock Support structure for the trunnion assembly and is responsible for holding, positioning and turning the trunnion securely.
F Servo Motor Asynchronous motor that allows for rotation of the trunnion from the headstock side.
G Inductive Sensor Detects the presence or absence of metal objects without making physical contact with them. It works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. When a metal object is brought near the sensor, it disturbs the electromagnetic field produced by the sensor, which in turn causes a change in the sensor's output signal.
