Draw Arc Fixture

General

The Draw Arc Fixture is where the Stud Welding occurs on the 2V05 Firewall Cell. Robot 2V05=V01AR11 places the part into the Draw Arc Fixture and then Robot 2V05=V01AR51 stud welds the part located in the fixture.

After the welds are completed, the material handler Robot 2V05=V01AR13 will grab the part and transfer it to the next station.

Draw Arc Fixture

Major Components

The Draw Arc Fixture features the following components.

Item Description Function
A Tunkers Clamp Secures the part during the respot welding operations.
B Locating Pin The locating pins on the Draw Arc Fixture allow for the accurate and controlled placement of the parts. When the material handling robot loads the part onto the fixture, the part must have each locating pin inserted into the locating holes.
C Inductive Sensor Detects the presence or absence of metal objects without making physical contact with them. It works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. When a metal object is brought near the sensor, it disturbs the electromagnetic field produced by the sensor, which in turn causes a change in the sensor output signal.
D Pin and Rest Unit Positions and stabilizes the workpiece in the fixture. The cylindrical metal rod (pin) inserts through a hole in the workpiece. It is used as a guide for the stud being welded. The rest is a support surface to provide stability and a reference point for the pin.
