Laser Cutting Booth

General

Located at Station 020, a laser cutting booth is designed to perform the required cutting operations. The Laser weld booth features two (2) fixtures mounted to a turntable, an ABB 4400 Robot equipped with the laser cutting End of Arm Tooling (EOAT), Paletti enclosure, dust collection system, IPG high power fiber laser resonator, and IPG laser chiller unit.

The Laser Weld Booth is manufactured by Paletti and is a free, standing enclosure. The enclosure's wall profiles incorporates a multi-layer labyrinth system that provides protection from laser radiation up to 6kW cw Nd-YAG disc lasers.

Located inside of the laser booth are two (2) fixtures mounted to a turntable. The material handling robot will place the part into laser cut fixture and return to the Home position. When the part is placed into the laser cut fixture, the fixture will use its clamps to secure the part, preventing it from moving during the laser cutting operations. After the part is secured, the turntable unit will rotate the fixture into the working position for the laser cutting sequence to begin.

After the laser cutting sequence is completed, the turntable will rotate back into the Home position for the material handling robot to remove the part from the fixture.
